Fest details: Goa was once described as South Asia’s Latin Quarter: indulgent, tolerant, capricious, steeped in a tropical lassitude and wedded to the sea. And this description is well lived up to every year in November when BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus celebrates their annual cultural festival. One of the fastest growing college fests of our country, and also the most popular, WAVES has become a cultural and social phenomenon among the youth and has come a long way since its humble inception in 2006. Last year, we ‘relived the streets’ and the theme for this year is HIT THE REWIND. We have managed to create quite a buzz across the nation already. WAVES has been named so for quite obvious reasons. Nestled in the hottest and quite scenic destination of India, with the sea as her snug neighbour, you cannot not want to be here during this time of the year. Fabulous beaches, sizzling sands, vibrant colours, delicious food and a marvellous crowd may be synonymous with Goa but we have a lot more to offer. Collaborating with foreign embassies, we host a crowd as enormous as 10,000 students from hundreds of colleges of India, some of the best entertainment in the form of dazzling nights, contemporary artists, bands and performers, international and domestic, along with a vast range of fascinating and diverse events in the fields of dance, drama, music, literature and arts showcasing some of the best talent of the nation. Last year we hosted the official pre-Sunburn and the Australian Rock band, Dead Letter Circus and Pakistani band, Strings were the headlining acts. The platform we provided to them is enviable and the time they spent here, unforgettable. Searock, Natyanjali, FashP and Mr. and Ms. Waves make up the BIG 4 with a myriad of other events. The participation for FashP and Mr. and Ms. Waves is huge as we have grown nationally over the years. There is something in store for everyone and we make sure that these three days will be remembered for nothing less than absolute entertainment.
As is evident from the international nature of the festival, Waves has become a melting pot of various cultures and diversities, we fully appreciate its richness in heritage and variety. Goa is known for its hospitality and is undoubtedly, one of the most sought after tourist locations of the world and all we do is add to that repute. We stress on the fact that we have risen above the tag of ‘just another college fest’ as we celebrate diversity and international harmony by setting the stage for societies coming together. We are growing in every direction, and maturing. We have come this far and we hope to go beyond. The dream is bigger this time around; as we welcome you to the Goa within Goa.
